Pressure — ceramic sculptures by Douglas Long. D’art Gallery, October 22 – November 15, 2026.
Nothing holds without taking on strain. In Pressure, porcelain forms are braced, pierced, bound, and balanced. In the heat of the kiln, some buckle or partially collapse, taking on a life beyond the forms I intended. Rods bow, seams shift, and gravity leaves its mark. What emerges carries both the effort of holding together and the forces that pull it apart—an uneasy balance shaped by intention, heat, and surrender.
